The Way I See It #230

Heaven is totally overrated. It seems boring. Clouds, listening to people play the harp. It should be somewhere you can't wait to go, like a luxury hotel. Maybe blue skies and soft music were enough to keep people in line in the 17th century, but Heaven has to step it up a bit. They're basically getting by because they only have to be better than Hell.  ~Joel Stein, columnist for the Los Angeles Times

(found on a Starbucks cup)

If only the world knew what heaven really was like. It reminds me of the verse in Revelation that says Satan slanders the dwelling place of God. He wants to keep people blinded to the truth of how unbelievably wonderful heaven will be. May we put aside the culture's perceptions of Heaven.

God's Grace Rediscovered

Back from the New Attitude conference in Louisville, KY! (or as the locals say it, "Loo-evuhl")

                       IMG_5162

The conference messages are available FOR FREE here.  Get them. Listen to them. Learn to be discerning. It's a cultural battle, but God has gifted this generation with truth-filled teaching.

Joshua Harris: Discernment

Mark Dever: Discerning Doctrine

Al Mohler: Discerning Culture

CJ Mahaney: Discerning your heart

Eric Simmons: Discerning the Gray Areas

John Piper: Discerning what pleases God, namely Himself

CJ Mahaney: Discerning how to Apply

God answered many prayers, as always. It is amazed me how He is inclined to hear our prayers before we are even done asking and meet us in our weaknesses. Praise God for new truths learned and applied, for the loving fellowship of other believers, for the chance to die to self and realize we don't have all the answers. But with God's amazing grace (and it is amazing), we can change. We CAN change.

Psalm 116: 12-13 ~ How can I repay the LORD
for all his goodness to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the LORD.

Still trying to figure out what "surrender" looks like....

"There is no ongoing spiritual life without this process of letting go. At the precise point where we refuse, growth stops. If we hold tightly to anything given to us, unwilling to let it go when the time comes or unwilling to allow it to be used as the Giver means it to be used, we stunt the growth of the soul."

"The more you perceive God's purpose in your life, the less terrible the losses will seem."

-Elisabeth Elliot
